48 competitors from 13 countries, including Mr. Zsolt Tamás citizen of Bonyhád lined up for start in the Triple Ironman World Championship in Lensahn. Now, he is going to share his experiences with our readers.
Approximately 100-200 people check our website every day. They spend 3 minutes with reading the latest news. But on the last weekend of June, during the Double Ultratriathlon World Championship we had much more visitors.
The time limit for the Triple Ultra Triathlon World Championship in Lensahn expired on 1st August, at 5 p.m. 41 of the 50 starters have successfully performed swimming on 11,400 metres, cycling on 540 kilometres and running on 126.6 kilometres.
The Triple Ultra Triathlon World Championship will start in Lensahn on 30th July, Friday, at 7 a.m. Three Hungarian sportsmen will take part in the competition: Mr. Zsolt Tamás, Mr. Antal Vőneki and Mr. János Gerhát. Several sportspersons whose names are familiar to the public are listed for start.
In order to promote the triathlon in the Bonyhád world championship, also a VIP relay team lined up for start: five ambitious personages of public life jointly performed the Olympic distance. We asked the team members to write about their experiences in the Bonyhád competition.
Organizers of the world cup in Bonyhád were obliged by IUTA to test contestants finishing in the first and second place for illegal performance-enhancing drugs with the WADA test.
The name of Zsolt Tamás from Bonyhád has been known by the world since 2007 when he won the world cup series of ultratriathlon. He has organised ultratriathlon race three times since then. It is thanked to him that 66 Ironmen from 15 countries have known his narrower home. Due to the organisation he has had less time for preparation, trainings. It was in 2008 when he last took part in an ultratriathlon competition. It happened in Germany, Lensahn. His comeback is also planned there. He starts the Triple Ultratriatlon World Championship on 30th July.
Hi there! I’m Luca, one of the youngest participants in the championship (24 years old). I took my encouragement from Paolo Della Patrona’s suggestion to enter the competition. Hi took part last year in the Nizza Ironman and I followed that and found this kind of competing very attractive. I started cycling and swimming in September, and running in the winter together with swimming. The consequences of this became, in an insane moment, I registered in the Bonyhád competition, truth is, with little training but with a lot of will.
Pictures taken at the world championship are now available on the website's gallery.
Township of Völgység – or else, shipping the news form a town of Völgység. ‘In the beginning there had been two townships in the newly inhabited Tolna county, the one around Simontornya and the other one around Dunaföldvár. In 1725 the township of Völgység, which also excels with its picturesque beauty, was detached from these two long, north-south lying townships. The centre of the township of Völgység became Bonyhád, which at that time did not count as a main town yet.’ But today it does all the more so. :-)

„I didn't start triathlon untill 1998, I didn't start anything till 1998. At this time I had given up smoking, got married, and has taken up minatura as a hobby, so my evenings were spent carving minature furniture and barley twist candlesticks one inch high, because it was too mesy, my husband talked me into taking a fitness qualification, and the rest is history...
Hobby: every kind of sport

“I had always done some sports but it was a change in 1996 when I ran a marathon as a bet. It was followed by more than ten other marathons. Then from curiosity I tried out the sprint distance in Kecskemét and in 3 consecutive year the half distance of Fonyód.

"I am a typical competitor having desire to compete since my earliest years of age, regardless to kind of competition. But I learnt, a real victory is when you are able to overcome yourself. Other people can only help you but you have to struggle with yourself to conquer the real victory.

Vincenzo completed 32 Ironman competitions in 2004 and with this he broke the world record and he wrote his name in the Guinnes Book of Records, too. Two year later he broke his own world record because he completed 36 Ironman competitions in 2006.

I am the member of Triatlon klub Medimurje. My favorite races are long distance running and bicycle marathon races.
My hobby is triathlon. I joined a triathlonclub 2001 just to improve my freestyleswim. I had a few years earlier tried to run a lot to loose weight and hold my problems with allergies and asthma down. But frequent injuries stopped me running and I forced my self to learn how to crawl .The dream to complete a triathlon appeared. The Olympic distance seemed very far away, and an Ironman was in my mind impossible to do.
i've been a triathlete for 16 years. i competed in the olimpic distances till 2002 then i started iron distance and ultra since 2004 in 2004 i was 3rd in lithuania (iuta world cup race) and i set the swim record at the deca (still the record now) 38 k in 10h13' in 2008 i was 5th in the world championship in canada (double iron)
„I’ve seen both double IM competitions in Bonyhad. Why I took part once as a spectator once as a volunteer was to convince myself that I mustn’t take part as a competitor. It is the first thing in my life so far that I’ve given up.
I completed 10 Ironman competition. Best result was 11:50 hours. I am the only Croat having completed two double Ironmans (Neulengbach the 13th place and in Murska Sobota the 18th place). I run about 50 marathons.

I am a technical editor. I have three children. My club: TV Traunstein; I have been an active triathlonist since 2005. My webpage:
I started my career as a swimmer when I was 10 years old, mainly swimming the breaststroke and medley events, 100 and 200m. At the age of 21 I discovered my love for long-distance-running, finishing my first marathon in 1990. Having had my personal best in 1995 (2h. 45 min.) I decided to go for the triathlon, my first Long Distance being the Ironmönch in Kulmbach/Bavaria in 1999.
"I began sport six years later with judo. Easy, my father was the instructor! I quickly added football, as a goal keeper, and have played for about forteen years. Years after years I began and stopped different sports like volley-ball, ping-pong, scuba diving, karate, aikido (shortly), French savate boxing, muay-thaï, full-contact. I’ve also been a kick-boxing instructor for a few years (3rd degree black belt).
“I consider sport as a ’scene’ where people like me can suffer, die and resurrect, overcome themselves and fully realise their purposes. Sport can convert guilty peoples to saints, common people to not everyday heroes; it can merge past and future with present time.
"Hi everybody :-), What to say, I won’t make a list of what I have done, also because if you look at the list of participants to this event I’d be nothing, and then it’s still so much more to make :-)... same as I will not mention the times…
„Because of a motorcycle accident to complete the rehabilitation of the knee in the 'summer of 1991 I bought my first mountain bike used, since then I have not stopped pedalling.
I live in Guernsey, Channel Islands.
I'm italian and I'm an IT programmer. I will marry on 24th July with Francesca.
When starting in long distance races, I am always sure of getting to the finish. My objective is always to perform the distance without injury. Passing the gate of the finish line is an unforgettable experience which makes me forget about the drops of sweat rolling off my body during the trainings and the pains suffered during the races, and gives me strength to face further challenges.
I have been taking part in triathlon competitions for eighteen years. Earlier, I used to prefer team games but I never was a certified sportsman. I first registered for Ironman competition in 1994. I have been living in Miskolc with my wife and two children for 11 years.
“I did not deal with sport too much in the past; I took part in the Ironman competition in Nagyatád last year where my result was 13 hours and 12 minutes. I like challenges, that is why I have registered for this competition in Bonyhád. My target is to complete the competition within 30 hours but I will not feel disappointed even if it takes me more time.
Hobby: every kind of sports with bike and running. Job: design engineer.
“I am 52 years old, vegetarian and have been married for 33 years. My wife Erika (49) also goes in for sports, she runs 12 to 14 hours. I have two children: Richárd (32) and Nóra (29) (am I such an old blockhead? :-) )
“I am the only child of a sport-loving family; my father taught me several tricks of sport. I had been engaged in water polo when I began dealing with triathlon in 1992. I used to live in Szentes at that time. My father was the trainer of the triathlon section. I was getting more and more fond of triathlon; we ran medium distance in Fonyód in 1996 and took part in a race in Nagyatád together with my father in 1999 who is still active in triathlon. This year’s Ironman will be the seventh for my father and the fifth for me.
I'm not only a triathlonist but also an adventure racer and a trailer; I took part in the Marathon des Sables in Morocco 4 times, a few Ironman competitions in France and Germany (Gerardmer, Embrun, Rot…), I participated in Lensahn in the triple in 2008 , UTMB in France 6 times, Desert Cup in Mali, Guadarun in Guadeloupe, Anapurnas mandala trail in Nepal, raid Gauloise in Vietnam, Diagonale des Fous in La Réunion, Abu Dhabi challenge...
I have been a justified football player since my childhood. However, since the time I became familiar with long distance running, I have been doing sport also. :-) This happened to me in 2007 and I have continuously looking for challenges since then.
Profession: Lawyer, teaching Law at Uppsala University. Author of legal books. I am Vice president for a sports association called Huddinge IK (outside Stockholm). We have Ice Hockey for men and Floorball for Women (in the highest division). I am doing Ultra Triathlon because I have always been afraid of pain. Now I have found out that Pain is temporary and Glory is forever.
I am married and have two beautiful daughters; they are 14 and 16 years old. We run our family business, my profession is goldsmith. I like eating, mainly sweets (my favourite sweets are ‘Nutella’ [hazelnut cream] and ‘Túrórudi’ [sweetened cottage cheese with chocolate coating]). My hobby is riding on motorcycle and I play a lot with our family’s puppy. Since I was six years old, sport has engaged a big part of my life and it will go like this in all my life, I hope. I won a national breast swimming championship when I was twelve.
As for my civilian profession, I am a researching mathematician. I got into contact with triathlon 5 years ago; I managed to complete the distance in the Nagyatád Ironman. I got fond of this kind of sport so much that I have regularly doing it as a hobby since that time and I am a recurrent ‘guest’. Nowadays, I have also longer distances in mind: I tested myself in a double Ironman in Austria in 2007 and took part in a 720 km cycling competition in Switzerland last year. I found evident that I would participate sooner or later in a double Ironman organised in my country. This will hopefully come true this year.
I am unable to give any logical reason for my registration. :-) In have a favourite film of mine a small bushman runs four days to find his children. I viewed it again not so long ago… Then I found a good idea to register. A wise man advises that you have to experience everything in your life except incest and folk dance (folk dance lovers, please forgive me, it was not me who told such thing). I have done a lot of sillinesses up to now; this competition will be the following one of them. It will turn out later whether this idea is good or bad. I am not an obsessed triathlonist, horse riding is my profession and my life.
In addition to triathlon, I am an obsessed mountaineer. Sport means freedom for me. Unfortunately, not everybody has the luck to be healthy. Live intensively every day, you do not know what will happen next day.
