48 competitors from 13 countries, including Mr. Zsolt Tamás citizen of Bonyhád lined up for start in the Triple Ironman World Championship in Lensahn. Now, he is going to share his experiences with our readers.
Approximately 100-200 people check our website every day. They spend 3 minutes with reading the latest news. But on the last weekend of June, during the Double Ultratriathlon World Championship we had much more visitors.
The time limit for the Triple Ultra Triathlon World Championship in Lensahn expired on 1st August, at 5 p.m. 41 of the 50 starters have successfully performed swimming on 11,400 metres, cycling on 540 kilometres and running on 126.6 kilometres.
The Triple Ultra Triathlon World Championship will start in Lensahn on 30th July, Friday, at 7 a.m. Three Hungarian sportsmen will take part in the competition: Mr. Zsolt Tamás, Mr. Antal Vőneki and Mr. János Gerhát. Several sportspersons whose names are familiar to the public are listed for start.
In order to promote the triathlon in the Bonyhád world championship, also a VIP relay team lined up for start: five ambitious personages of public life jointly performed the Olympic distance. We asked the team members to write about their experiences in the Bonyhád competition.
Organizers of the world cup in Bonyhád were obliged by IUTA to test contestants finishing in the first and second place for illegal performance-enhancing drugs with the WADA test.
The name of Zsolt Tamás from Bonyhád has been known by the world since 2007 when he won the world cup series of ultratriathlon. He has organised ultratriathlon race three times since then. It is thanked to him that 66 Ironmen from 15 countries have known his narrower home. Due to the organisation he has had less time for preparation, trainings. It was in 2008 when he last took part in an ultratriathlon competition. It happened in Germany, Lensahn. His comeback is also planned there. He starts the Triple Ultratriatlon World Championship on 30th July.
Hi there! I’m Luca, one of the youngest participants in the championship (24 years old). I took my encouragement from Paolo Della Patrona’s suggestion to enter the competition. Hi took part last year in the Nizza Ironman and I followed that and found this kind of competing very attractive. I started cycling and swimming in September, and running in the winter together with swimming. The consequences of this became, in an insane moment, I registered in the Bonyhád competition, truth is, with little training but with a lot of will.
Pictures taken at the world championship are now available on the website's gallery.
Township of Völgység – or else, shipping the news form a town of Völgység. ‘In the beginning there had been two townships in the newly inhabited Tolna county, the one around Simontornya and the other one around Dunaföldvár. In 1725 the township of Völgység, which also excels with its picturesque beauty, was detached from these two long, north-south lying townships. The centre of the township of Völgység became Bonyhád, which at that time did not count as a main town yet.’ But today it does all the more so. :-)
